HEB 120 sijas – griešana, cinkošana, urbšana un vītņošana

Order for a Finnish customer: 5 tons of HEB 120 beams with a full processing cycle

The MelnaisMetals.LV team has successfully completed an order from a Finnish client, providing a full cycle of steel beam processing - from preparation to a ready-made assembly solution.

Scope of work

  • 5 tons HEB 120 beam

  • Precise cutting to size according to customer technical requirements

  • Hot-dip galvanizing for long-term corrosion protection

  • Drilling holes after zinc - preserving the quality of the coating

  • Internal threading for mounting elements

Why is drilling and threading done after zinc?

Hot-dip zinc completely covers the metal surface – including holes and threads. If the holes and threads were made before galvanizing, the layer of zinc would fill and block them, making the threads unusable. This would mean that after zinc coating, everything would have to be reprocessed, which:

  • would increase costs,

  • would slow down execution,

  • would create a risk of damaging the zinc protective layer.

So the correct order is: galvanize the beams → then make the holes → do the precise threading.

Result

The customer received fully prepared HEB 120 beams with high-quality zinc coating and precise, functional threads – ready for assembly at the site in Finland.
